Sunderland Childcare Centres - Alternative Delivery Arrangements Provider Event

Thursday 16th October, 13:00 to 17:00, Committee Room 2, Civic Centre, Burdon Road, Sunderland SR2 7DN

Sunderland City Council currently manage two Childcare centres which deliver a range of support for parents and children. This includes day-care for children aged 0 - 5 years for fee paying parents, the free nursery education offer for 2, 3 and 4 year olds as well as commissioned places for children identified as "Children in Need".

The two Children's centres (Thorney Close and Concord day-care) offer the same service as other day-care establishments run by schools, private and voluntary organisations.

Following a recent detailed review the Council is now looking at alternative delivery arrangements for the two Childcare centres, including a potential joint venture with a partner organisation or third party ownership. To invesitigate these options further and discuss the alternative delivery arrangements the Council will be conducting an engagement event for all interested providers.

The provider event will take place in Committee Room 2 on Thursday 16th October at 13:00 and will cover:

  • Project Overview and Background
  • Overview of the Two Childcare Centres
  • Project Timescales
  • Question & Answer Session
