Background

Short Breaks provide:
  • Children and young people with a disability can have an enjoyable experience away from their primary carers
  • Parents, carers and families have a necessary and valuable break from their caring responsibilities
  • Short breaks are designed to be fun and imaginative and involve children and young people in actives they enjoy.
  • A short break can be provided in several ways e.g. after school/holiday clubs, befriending services, carer support in the family home and in the community, overnight respite in and out of the family home.
