Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council is holding engagement sessions to meet with providers who can provide a short breaks service to children/young people and their families. The sessions will take place on 8th and 9th August 2018 in Redcar (25k centre, Ayton Drive, Redcar, TS10 4EW).
Background
Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council is preparing for a procurement process for short break provision for children , young people and their families . The local authority has a statutory responsibility to commission a wide range of services for disabled children and young people, in turn this will enhance their lives, encourage independence and support families.
Short Breaks provide:
- Children and young people with a disability can have an enjoyable experience away from their primary carers
- Parents, carers and families have a necessary and valuable break from their caring responsibilities
- Short breaks are designed to be fun and imaginative and involve children and young people in actives they enjoy.
- A short break can be provided in several ways e.g. after school/holiday clubs, befriending services, carer support in the family home and in the community, overnight respite in and out of the family home.
