NEPO awards regional solution for translation and interpreting

NEPO has awarded a regional solution for translation and interpreting services.

The solution is fully compliant with EU procurement legislation and provides NEPO Member Authorities and North East Associate Members with access to telephone interpreters, face-to-face interpreters, British Sign Language and non-spoken interpreters, and written translation. The solution was procured by North Tyneside Council on behalf of NEPO and its Member Authorities.

Following a rigorous evaluation of service delivery and value for money, nine suppliers have been appointed to the solution.

  • Supreme Linguistics
  • Wolfstone Translation

In line with NEPO’s commitment to maximising social value from its procurement activity, the suppliers have plans to deliver social and economic benefits through a range of initiatives including apprenticeships, work experience placements, use of local interpreters/translators and staff training.

In addition, NEPO anticipates savings of up to 64% (for telephone interpretation) and up to 18% total average savings across all four lots, based on benchmarking against other public sector solutions.
