Launch of new and improved NEPO Portal

The NEPO Portal has been upgraded in order to create a much more user-friendly experience for public sector suppliers.

The NEPO Portal is used by the North East Procurement Organisation (NEPO), its eleven Member Authorities and Nexus to carry out fully compliant tendering exercises for a wide range of goods and services. Suppliers are able to register on the NEPO Portal free-of-charge in order to receive alerts on, and compete for, tendering opportunities relevant to their business.  In 2015, over 5,000 tendering opportunities were advertised on the NEPO Portal.

The upgraded system was launched on 23 May 2016 and includes a more streamlined look and feel.  A further improvement is the system’s links with public sector tendering systems from around the country, meaning suppliers can use one account to access tendering opportunities from further afield.  It is anticipated that Member Authorities will also benefit from a wider competitive supply base as well as efficiencies from system improvements through their use of the NEPO Portal.

Joanne Emery, Systems Technical Adviser at NEPO said,

“Whilst NEPO received excellent feedback from suppliers in our latest annual survey, we recognised that the NEPO Portal could be improved to make accessing public sector tendering opportunities even easier and more intuitive.  Member Authorities and NEPO have worked in close partnership with our system supplier, Due North, to ensure that the upgraded system meets the requirements of our supply base whilst supporting fully compliant procurement processes.”
In addition to online guidance on using the new system, the NEPO Business Club programme of free events will include sessions on Navigating the NEPO Portal offering one-to-one support for suppliers.

The NEPO Portal upgrade is the first in a series of improvements for NEPO’s stakeholders, with a new look website planned to be launched in the coming months.
