Changes to EU Procurement Directives

NEPO recently held an information event for suppliers to learn more about the forthcoming changes to the EU Procurement Directives.  For those of you unable to attend - you can view the event presentations on the NEPO Portal.

The Directives will change the way that public sector organisations are able to buy goods and services.  While the changes are "evolution rather than revolution" according to Terry Maley of Durham County Council, there is scope for the changes to have a significant positive impact on SMEs in the North East.

Over 80 suppliers attended the NEPO event to hear presentations from Durham County Council, B2B North Ltd and NEPO.  There was also a Q&A session led by the North East Chamber of Commerce and featuring a panel made up of reps from Business Durham, North East Social Enterprise Partnership and the Federation of Small Businesses.  You can read the NECC blog post on the event at http://neccblog.co.uk/?p=5554
