NEPO Launches £300 million Building Construction Works Framework

NEPO has awarded twenty construction companies a place on its regional framework agreement for building construction works.

NEPO’s Building Construction Works solution will be used by North East local authorities, and is available for use by other public sector organisations in the region, including universities and housing associations. It is anticipated that the solution will attract projects totalling £300 million over its four-year term.

Michael Curtis, Regional Category Specialist at NEPO said:

“NEPO207 Building Construction Works has drawn on expertise from public sector partners and contractors, to develop an OJEU-compliant, value-for-money route to deliver construction works and design services. We anticipate that a range of public sector projects will be commissioned under the solution including commercial buildings, community assets, housing and renovations.”

Councillor Veronica Dunn, Chair of NEPO, commented:

“The Building Construction Works solution is an excellent example of NEPO’s commitment to maximise opportunities for contractors. NEPO actively engaged with the construction sector in order to better understand how to encourage local and SME contractors to bid for a place on the framework. We listened to feedback and introduced a lotting structure based on project value and sub-regional location, we also held bid-writing workshops to help upskill local contractors.

“This groundwork resulted in fourteen SMEs winning a place on the solution, that’s 70 per cent of the successful suppliers. NEPO will continue this positive work by monitoring supply chain opportunities, local labour usage and other social value outcomes.”
